One of the many unexpected surprises in becoming a parent of two amazing, very imaginative girls was how much I enjoy it and specifically, how much I enjoy photographing them in their limitless creative worlds of exploration. Those magic moments are what make being a parent one of the most unexpected joys of my life.
I’m often asked to photograph families and discovered I greatly enjoy it — it’s FUN for me especially when I can capture those tiny unexpected moments, magical surprises that become the treasured photos you’ll want to print, frame, share and pass down.
As the perpetual “dad behind the camera” I also love giving the appointed family photographer a break so they can actually be IN the photographs with their children 😉
Again this is FUN for me, I love to do it so I’m flexible with budgets, timing and all ideas — we all deserve better photos then the Sears portrait!
Rockhaven Sanitarium was founded in 1923 by psychiatric nurse, Agnes Richards, as a place where women suffering “mild mental and nervous disorders” could be treated with more dignity and respect than the state-run insane asylums of the time. As a private institution run exclusively for women and owned by a woman (a rarity at the time), Rockhaven became popular among the Hollywood elite. Marilyn Monroe’s mother, Gladys Eley, called it home, as well as Billie Burke, and many other actresses and entertainers. Abandoned in the mid-2000's, the decaying property stands in peril as its current owners, The City of Glendale, regularly entertain bids from developers.
